Classic quote of the week: "Listen sir, this ain't the classiest joint in town but we have to drawn the line somewhere." Waitress in The Love Bug.

Tragic quote of the week: "Mommy." Wilson from Flubber

Quote-O-Matic:
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is it, it wouldn't be and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

"Talk about your fixer-upper"

- Alice from Alice in Wonderland & Timon from The Lion King

This Weekend
If you haven't been hearing reports about The Passion of the Christ, you must be living in a cave. The movie has received more media attention that I've seen of even Hollywood blockbuster-type films and a grass roots campaign from various churches helped the movie bring in more than $26 million dollars on Wednesday. While I'm not sure how well the film will do long term considering it's graphic nature and a possible lack of repeatability it certainly looks set for a record opening this weekend. Look for the Passion of the Christ to bring in a very large $80.1 million dollars by Sunday and be well on it's course to beat Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for #1 foreign language film released in the United States.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it rather ironic that the other three movies premiering this weekend are called Twisted, Club Dread and Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights.

Twisted is a psychological mystery from Paramount Pictures. The studio has been doing quite poor this year, and unfortunately it doesn't seem like the timing of this film will help much. With all the media hoopla gathered around The Passion of the Christ, non of the other films really stand a chance to make much of an opening. Look for Twisted to make around $7.5 million over the 3 days.

Club Dread has a small cult following but shouldn't bring in huge numbers. Look for the film to make around $5.4 million.

Who thought that sequels had to be close together? A whopping 17 years after the original Dirty Dancing, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights is just now premiering. I guess next year we'll have a sequel to Flashdance. Anyway, the movie doesn't appear to be generating much buzz (big surprise there), so watch for the film to make about $5.6 million.

Other films:

50 First Dates $12 million - 41%

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen $5.6 -40% Miracle $4.8 million - 38% Welcome to Mooseport $3.4 million -50% Barbershop 2 $3.2 million -50% Euro Trip $2.7 million -60%

If It Was A Disney Film. . . Club Dread would be a docudrama about the fascinating rise and demise of Club Disney.
