We had the opportunity to briefly speak with Andreas Deja, Lilo's animator. The transcript is below or you can click here for the MPEG video (7.4 Megs, 44 seconds, 352 X 240).

LP: Tell me about working on Lilo & Stitch.

AD: It was fun to work on this movie because I've done a lot of villains for the Studio like Gaston and Scar and those kind of characters. This is like a complete switch, doing something else because she is so genuine and lovable but kind of complex at the same time which gives you something to work on as animator.

LP: Was it difficult to do a character that had to play against someone with as strong a persronality as Stitch?

AD: You know you just focus on your own. I think she holds her won. She's living in her own world and I think though they're very contrasting, in their own way they have things in common. They are both outsiders and they're and they look for a place where they belong and they find each other but it takes the whole movie to get there.

LP: How important is this film to the future of traditional animation?

AD: I think they're all important. This one is special because it turned out so darn well, you know. It's all I can say.
