Last month Marvel Comics announced that a new character would be taking over the Iron Man mantle: teenager Riri Williams. Since then fans have been wondering what moniker the hero would assume, considering “Man” no longer seemed applicable.
Now Wired reveals that Williams will go by the name of Ironeheart. As writer Brian Michael Bendis told the site, “Iron Woman seemed old-fashioned to some. Iron Maiden looked like a legal nightmare. And Ironheart, coined by Joe Quesada, after I told him my planned story for Riri, speaks not only to the soul of the character but to the Iron Man franchise as a whole.”
Ironheart will make her debut when Invincible Iron Man #1 hits store shelves this fall.
