What’s Happening:

  • The Disney Parks Blog just announced that Donald Duck’s quest to get the Sorcerer Hat back will take him to a new destination in the near future.
  • Beginning July 17th, a segment will be added to Mickey’s Philharmagic set inside the world of Pixar’s Academy Award-winning film Coco.
  • The song “Un Poco Loco” will be included in the scene and pictures released suggest that Donald Duck will crash Miguel’s and Hector’s performance on stage before going on a flying chase with Alebrije Dante and Pepita to get the Sorcerer’s Hat back.
  • This will be an addition to the show and is not replacing any of the current segments, which include Beauty and the Beast, Fantasia, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Peter Pan and Aladdin.
  • Coco will be the first Pixar property incorporated into the 4D show and will be introduced first at Disney California Adventure and Disneyland Paris on July 17th.
  • Walt Disney World debuted the attraction at Magic Kingdom in 2003 and the new sequence will debut in the fall for the resort’s 50th anniversary celebration.
  • There have not been any announcements about the new segment coming to Tokyo Disneyland or Hong Kong Disneyland.
  • This enhancement to Mickey’s Philharmagic is the first time that artists from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios have collaborated together on a project for the public to see.
  • Composer Germaine Franco, who worked on Coco, has created the score for this segment of the show.
