Yesterday, in the midst of a Thanksgiving Day football game, Disney dropped the first teaser for the live-action Lion King movie coming out next year. Of course social media was very quick to react, many of those reactions from people who saw the original 1994 film in their formative years.
The Lion King trailer being released as millions of Millennials sit in their childhood bedrooms on Thanksgiving night, slightly drunk and vulnerable to nostalgia… someone give that marketing team a raise

Even WWE wrestlers and holdout NFL superstars are excited:
If live action Lion King doesn’t beat Avatar as the higest grossing movie of all time then something is wrong.

Beyonce certainly has her fans
Also, is Beyonce gonna do a rendition of Can You Feel the Love Tonight? And are we getting CGI Nala throwing Do Me eyes at Simba again?
These are requirements, Disney. #LionKing pic.twitter.com/XfdmNIwqJd— Troubelle RainShine (@TrubelleNova) November 23, 2018
BUT THEN! The realization…
That Lion King trailer though…I can’t watch Mufasa die like a National Geographic special 😭😭😭😭

Lion King is not a children’s movie, leave your children at home summer 2019. There will be big big adults crying as we relive the childhood trauma of watching mufasa die.

They better have included Be Prepared in The Lion King. They cast Beyonce so I know there’s going to music, but I heard rumors that “Be Prepared” was going to be cut.
We need to see Scar w/ 30+ Hyena’s , Hyping them up to Be Prepared. pic.twitter.com/gD2TLxEkpp

And last, but not least, cynical but funny
For 20 years, it has been nearly impossible to see the original LION KING, but fortunately Disney has been able to reconstruct the original film using today's modern technology (and stars) so that a whole new generation of movie lovers can experience this legendary lost classic!

the lion king remake is the peak of the 'hollywood irrationally despises animation' trend since they remade an animated film into a still animated but more realistic film that might make people not realize they're watching an animated film

One thing we’re pretty sure of. The live-action (or whatever they call it) Lion King, based on Twitter’s reaction, is going to be boffo!
