Quick Bites Review: Redd’s Revenge Dole Whip Float in Adventureland

The latest addition to the ever growing world of “Insta food” in the Disney Parks is Redd’s Revenge, Strawberry Fanta with strawberry Dole whip soft serve, topped off with a pirate hat made out red chocolate. Found at the Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland of the Magic Kingdom, this new float is inspired by the controversial change that took place at the nearby Pirates of the Caribbean attraction when the long-standing “Take a Wench for a Bride” scene was adjusted and the Red Head was transformed into a gun-toting pirate named Redd.

Now that we know the history of the name of this new addition to the Adventureland sweet treat offerings I can give my thoughts on it: it isn’t good. Now that might be a little harsh as it is okay but not great. However, when you say anything about a Dole Whip, people’s minds regress to that day in Disneyland standing in front of the Enchanted Tiki Room putting that first spoonful into their mouths… or is that just me? But back on track, I have been a Dole Whip fan for a long time and have even visited the Mecca of Dole in Hawaii and, up until I tried this, I have loved all the flavors. Unfortunately, strawberry Dole Whip is just not that very appealing.

The mix of strawberry Dole Whip and Strawberry Fanta sounded like a great concept but, from the over sweetness of the Dole Whip to the hard chocolate of the pirate hat, really the only thing good that came out of this was the small amount of the Fanta. Now, I understand that Instagram has become the #1 thing in the parks from walls to ears but I have to say this latest venture into the monthly social media trend falls a little short. But don’t let me cramp your style — go try it out and give us your feedback.
