Talk about fiscal 2009 performance – not as strong as we’d like it underscores the competitive advantage Disney has with its brands and consumer relationships. The revenue fell from 2008 records ending a five year streak of setting records. Fall is largely result of weak global economy and poorly performing live action movies. Commited future capital to some very exciting projects at studios, media networks and parks and resorts. Several films coming up including Iron Man 2, first Marvel film to be released since that acquisition was completed.

Tron is the December action release along with a TV series and video game under development. About to start production on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides – funny and fast moving, reminds him of the original Pirate film. Animated Tangled debutes Thanksgiving, next chapter of CARS June 2011. Reached agreement to distribute live action films from Dreamworks SKG.
Parks and Resorts: Work is underway on significant expansion at HKDL and MK at WDW plus resort in Hawaii opening late next year. This summer DCA enhancement and expansion continues with World of Color. Next January DIsney Dream sets sail on maiden voyage.
Media Networks: Universal and adaptable to different platforms. ABC – lists number of very popular ABC programming that are among hte most watched, especially when online viewing is included. Disney Channel is an important launching pad for new Company talent and is expanding internationally. It’s a huge value generator for hte company. ESPN is extremely important to the bottom line and is incredible valuable. Last year had higest ratings ever and pioneering technology.
Reputation is an important driver for the company so the company must act int he most responsible ways. Goal is to reduce environmental impact while educating with programs like Disney’s Friends for Change. Separately, in just over two months 1,000,000 guests signed up for Disney Parks’ Give a Day, Get a Disney Day volunteering program. Doing more to communicate directly with FaceBook, YouTube and D23. D23 Expo was fantastic last year for an inside look and mingle with Disney talent.
