2010 Shareholder Meeting Update #5 – Q&A, Disneyland Hotels Labor Dispute

Question: George, Disney CM for over 12 years at Disneyland Hotel. A great job helping create great, unforgettable vacations over and over again. For last two years the 3 Disneyland Resort hotels have been without a union contract because Disney has insisted on attacking health care benefits. He would have to pay $500 more per month to have health insurance. Every other hotel in Orange County that’s a part of the union has already agreed to put forth enough money to keep health care benefits where they are. Once again – this is nothing against Disney. He would never go and work for another hotel.

Iger: Appreciates the manner in which the position was presented. Second, appreciates his commitment to the company  and the passion he shows for his job – that creates huge value for Disney. Would love to engage in a dialog but can’t because recently the union agreed to federal mediation on the process and the mediator exhorted us to not take the negotations public at all. But assures the issues at hand have been raised with him and the board and they are trying to settle this negotation.
