Walt Disney World Weather Report for May 15 from @WDW_Weather

I apologize for the lack of updates while storms were causing some problems throughout Central Florida.  Mother Nature decided to cause some problems in my back yard as well and thanks to a tremendous amount of rain over night – a sinkhole opened and swallowed the electric transformer that provides power to my place.  So these are going to be lean and mean this week – and for that like I said, I apologize.

Most models are in agreement that today will be the wettest day of the week with thunderstorms at some point during the day likely.  Plan on waking up to mostly cloudy skies and then soon after noon expect some showers to start – though I wouldn’t rule out that precipitation getting here sooner rather than later.

Highs are forecasted to make it into the mid 80s but with all the clouds they may top out in the low 80s depending on those environmental factors.  Lows will barely drop into the 60s and then rebound again back up towards 90 thanks to the added sunshine that is expected for Wednesday.

Expect highs in the upper 80s for the rest of the week.

And just when you put the thought of tropical weather out of your mind the Eastern Pacific Tropical Season started a day early with the official naming of Tropical Storm Aletta.  The official start for the Eastern Pacific season is May 15th while the Atlantic Season officially starts June 1.

Towards the end of last week a few computer models even had the Atlantic Season firing up a bit early but later runs have backed off on that (which is good news because Florida looked to potentially be impacted).  Should something form now, it will likely head straight out to sea.

Tropical weather is something everyone should be aware of when planning a Disney vacation in the summer.  This is one of the most fascinating parts of meteorology and why I became involved in the first place so if you are looking for up to the minute tropical weather when it is relevant follow me on Twitter this season @WDW_Weather.
