Josh Trank Exits Star Wars Anthology Film

Josh Trank will no longer direct the second installment of the Star Wars Anthology films. After the news of his exit was reported by Variety, a statement was released by the studio saying, “It was a privilege to collaborate with Josh. We are grateful for the energy and love of Star Wars that he brought to the process, and we wish him all the best.”

Last month, Trank was a no-show at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim where he was to co-headline a panel with Rogue One director, Gareth Edwards. At the time, Trank was said to have woken up ill. This was confirmed later by a tweet, however some found it odd that a trailer for Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot (which he directed) coincidentally debuted on the same day.

The yet untitled film has plenty of time to find a new director, as it will follow The Force Awakens in December, Rogue One in 2016, and Episode VIII in 2017.
