Disney and Deadmau5 Resolve Their Trademark Dispute

Following several months of legal rangling, it appeares that Disney and the music artist Deadmau5 have reached a settlement. Last September, Disney said in opposition papers filed at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board that the Deadmau5 design was “nearly identical in appearance, connotation and overall commercial impression to Disney’s Mouse Ears Marks” and would “cause confusion” among consumers.” Deadmau5 has been using a mouse head logo since 2002, but had just applied to have the logo issued as a trademark, which was the root of Disney’s protest.

A lawyer for Joel Zimmerman(a.k.a Deadmau5) told The Hollywood Reporter that, “Disney and Deadmau5 have amicably resolved their dispute.”
