Are There Gators in WDW? “Not That We Know Of…” According to a Since-Removed Backstage Instructions

A sign informing Cast Members how to answer guests inquiries concern the presence of alligators has leaked due to a post from a College Program employee. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Shannon Sullivan posted an image of the sign on social media to express her displeasure with its message. Since such post violates Disney policies for Cast Members, Sullivan was let go, but was subsequently rehired once the Sentinel asked about her termination. In fact, Magic Kingdom Vice President Dan Cockerell visited her personally to offer her the position back.

The sign in question told Cast Members not to say that they had seen alligators in the waters at the resort, especially those around Tom Sawyer’s Island. It tells employees to respond to guests asking if there are gators in the Rivers to say “Not that we know of, but if we see one, we call Pest Management to have it removed” in an effort to prevent guests from being afraid while walking in Frontierland.

Disney says the sign was quickly removed and was never authorized to be posted in the first place. They added that they do not know who posted the sign and have not reprimanded anyone for it yet.
