Once Upon a Time to “End Current Narrative”

There has been much discussions about whether ABC’s Once Upon a Time will see a Season 7. Deadline is reporting that discussions about the show’s future are ongoing, but that the current narrative will end at the end of the season.

“Eddie and Adam came in and talked with me right before the holiday about what some of their potential ideas might be for Season 7,” ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey told Deadline at TCA today. “There was some interesting stuff, we gave them some feedback, and they are now working and are going to come back and sit with me in a couple of weeks.  I think that, having had worked on Lost, they have a very good sense of the engagement with fans and wanting to end the story in the right way.”

Dungey said that no matter what happens with the show, it will be given a proper sendoff. It is unclear if the series continues if it will take the form of a spinoff or will just be an evolution of the current series.

Once Upon A Time draws upon many Disney characters and storytelling, but the ratings have slipped this season. It remains a popular choice internationally and digitally, but it is unclear if those avenues make up for the viewer loss.
