John Boyega, star of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, admitted today on Good Morning America that it was his Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker script that ended up for sale on eBay.
- Boyega appeared on the morning talk show to discuss the upcoming finale to the most recent Star Wars trilogy.
- After director J.J. Abrams revealed earlier this week that a copy of the screenplay for the new movie somehow became available on eBay, Boyega was asked about how it happened.
- “It was me,” Boyega told Good Morning America. He went on to elaborate on how he lost his script, saying:
- "Let me tell you how this one went down. I was moving apartments and I left the script under my bed. I was just like, you know what, I'll leave it under my bed. When I wake up in the morning I'll take it and move, but my boys came over and, you know, we started partying a little bit and then the script just — it just stayed there. Then a few weeks after, you know, a cleaner comes in, finds the script and then puts it on eBay for like 65 pounds."
- Boyega joked about the asking price for the script, saying "so the person didn't know the true value.”
- Abrams assured everyone that the team was able to recover the script before it was sold, keeping the secrets of the upcoming film safe.
- Boyega explained that even he doesn’t know how The Rise of Skywalker will end, saying "I don't actually don't know because we shot several different things. I'm curious. I think I watch the movie next week for the first time."
- It all comes to an end when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
