This update features very important Annual Passholder information, Grizzly Peak, Christmas and Year 2000 merchandise and more!

The biggest news at Disneyland this week was the reopening of Pirates of the Caribbean after an extended rehab. Numerous minor and a couple of major enhancements were made to make a great attraction even better. We'll have lots more about Pirates of the Caribbean in a feature coming very soon.

Elsewhere, Christmas is coming and so is the year 2000 and neither of these have been lost on Disneyland. New merchandise is appearing all over the place, and Main Street even has a new Christmas store. But first up this week is the appearance of one of the icons of Disneyland's California Adventure, the grizzly bear head atop Grizzly Peak..

Major Annual Passholder Changes
Beginning November 1st, the Disneyland annual passholder program will have new options. They are detailed below:

  • The Basic annual pass will no longer be offered. However, current passholders who have a Regular Annual Pass will be able to renew it. The Basic annual pass has added 15 blackout days for a total of 75. The price remains $99.
  • The Deluxe annual pass now has 15 more blackout days for a total of 45. The price remains $129.
  • Those who have already purchased an Basic or Deluxe annual pass will still have their original set of blackout days.
  • The Premium annual pass is unchanged and remains $199.
  • A new pass, the Southern California Annual Pass, is available for Southern California residents only and costs $79. It has approximately 152 blackout days. A senior citizen version of this pass is available for $75.
  • On all annual passes with blackout days, the passholder may enter the park on a blackout day for $20. The $20 ticket must be used on the day it's purchased and presented at the gate with your annual pass.
  • Flex passes, which can normally be upgraded to an annual pass, cannot be converted into a Southern California pass. Flex Passes can still be upgraded to the other annual passes and single day tickets can still be upgraded to any type of annual pass.

The Annual Passholder Page has additional information.

DCA's Grizzly Peak
On Friday morning the bear head that tops off Grizzly Peak was brought in and attached. Reported, it was to be brought in by helicopter. But other reports say a crane was used. Either way, it's now there.

China Closet Becomes a Christmas Store
Last week the China Closet on Main Street reopened, after a rehab, as a Christmas Shop. According to Cast Members, the Christmas theme will not remain after the holiday season, but they're not sure exactly what type of shop it will be.
