New Episodes of “Doctor Who” to Stream on Disney+ in 2023

Disney is always looking for content for its streaming service, Disney+. They were in talks with the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) about acquiring streaming rights to the new Doctor Who series and this deal has officially gone through.

What's Happening:

  • Disney has acquired the rights to BBC’s Doctor Who.
  • Under this new agreement, Disney+ will exclusively stream all upcoming seasons of the show outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland, which remain with BBC.
  • The new episodes will arrive in November 2023 to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the show.
  • These new episodes will be produced in Wales by Bad Wolf with BBC studio production.
  • SPOILER: As the most recent episode of the show revealed, David Tennant will play the Fourteenth Doctor (having previously played the Tenth Doctor) for three specials, before Ncuti Gatwa takes over the role as the Fifteenth Doctor.
