This Halloweentime, Disney California Adventure’s Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction is getting a nightly overlay dubbed Monsters After Dark. Now the Disney Parks Blog has revealed that one of the monsters featured in this ride update also has a role in Marvel’s upcoming film Thor: Ragnarok. As new concept art shows, Surtur’s Fire Dragon will appear in both the Marvel Theme Park Universe via Guardians and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Ragnarok. Of course, this makes sense as the ragtime group of Guardians will meet the God of Thunder in Avengers: Infinity War next summer.
Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark’s story will apparently take place moments after the original ride’s ended. See, the Guardians have escaped, but have managed to leave poor Groot behind. To rescue him, they must also face a number of monsters that have accidentally been released. This Halloween overlay will be available nightly at Disney California Adventure from September 15th through October 31st.
