Disney Channel Brews Up a Third Season of "Bug Juice"
Disney Channel, the leader in television for kids and families, has ordered 20 episodes for a third season of "Bug Juice," its critically acclaimed original reality documentary series chronicling kids at summer camp.
Production began in June at Brush Ranch Camps in Santa Fe, N.M. The spectacular Santa Fe National Forest provides the dramatic backdrop for the newest group of adventure-seeking campers. Episodes will begin airing in the first quarter of 2001.
"While some networks feel they must `create' reality television on a sound stage or desert island, we're quite happy with capturing reality as it really is," said Gary Marsh, executive vice president of original programming. "Kids know that their lives already have more than enough drama and adventure."
What happens when a slew of 12-to-14-year-old kids, who are away from the watchful eye of their parents (some for the first time), descend upon the rugged mountain terrain of New Mexico? "Bug Juice: Brush Ranch Camps!" This season finds the new campers roughing it for two four-week sessions, where they explore a wide range of camp activities including horseback riding, overnight river-rafting trips, fly fishing and a ropes course. In addition, campers will indulge in additional artistic activities including dance classes, a play and a talent show for their parents at the end of the session. The original series, produced by Evolution Film & Tape, will capture new adventures and experiences through the eyes and anecdotes of kids.
