Last port was the Disney island in the Bahamas called Castaway Cay. Some of the water activities had to be cancelled due to windy weather. There was a Post Office, where you could send postcard to friends and family back home. The flags there were at half mast for Roy Disney, who had passed away on December 16, 2009. This did bring tears to my eyes and added a certain somberness to an otherwise happy cruise.  On the island were trams with animal snouts and antlers along with Christmas garland along the sides. There were Christmas trees there as well. The ship took a short delay in departure due to the winds that were almost hurricane force. With a little Bonine or Dramamine that was provided, neither Margaret nor I suffered any problems.

Me with Disney Magic Ship and Pirate Ship in Castaway Cay

As for the ship activities, there was something for everyone. Margaret and I chose to go each evening to the live Main Show, which was held in the Walt Disney Theatre and particularly loved two shows, Twice Charmed, a musical about Cinderella and also Disney Dreams, which has won awards as being the best cruise show of all the cruise ships. Margaret said I fell in love with Twice Charmed. It had heart, which surprised me and it was a lovely idea for that twist at the end. I myself was enchanted with Disney Dreams as it appealed to the child in me as in all Disney lovers, telling us to always believe in our dreams. There was a hypnotist/comedian, Ricky Kalmon and a magician, Freddy Fusion that were very entertaining.

On the Main Deck there was a forty foot beautifully decorated King Triton Christmas tree with a lighting ceremony the first night. Near the tree were daily character appearances with people happily waiting in anticipation in the lines for their photos. In fact the whole ship was decorated for Christmas, which made this voyage unique and very special. One evening on the top deck, we were entertained by a wonderful Pirates Show, followed by an incredible fireworks display. The Disney Cruise Line is the only cruise line that has fireworks. That night the wind was such that they considered canceling the fireworks, but instead they turned the ship around to be able to shoot them off to everyones glee and delight. And as an added bonus on the cruise, we were fortunate to view the newly released hand animated film Princess and the Frog in the Buena Vista Theatre. Both Margaret and I agreed that we loved the film. I myself being very familiar with New Orleans marveled that the animators were able to capture the true flavor of the characters and the city so realistically! What a treat!! We made it a point to check out all the venues on the ship but did not participate in activities other than the ones previously mentioned as we had more than enough to do already.

Christmas came early for me this year.  THANK YOU, Margaret!!

Musings From Margaret KerryerTinker Bell

A cruise aboard the Disney Magic certainly IS magical. How can you top it? Travel with my dear friend Scarlett Stahl and a trip becomes an extra wondrous experience.

Allowing for my Tinker Bell Talks and my Meet n Greet schedule, Scarlett planned to get us to where all the Disney excitement could be found. For example; a private dinner at Palos with Captain Thord and a visit to the bridge. She secretly finagled that event with guest services. One night, I wasnt going to attend the Pirates Party, but Scarlett got us front row seats topside and Disney threw in a fire works display off the fantail I wouldnt have missed it. She planned so that we saw all the live shows and a movie!

People delighted in her and her soft southern accent that popped up now and then. (Me, too) Scarlett is a gem with a warm heart and she spread some of her own Pixie Dust as we traveled the high seas.. Besides she spoiled me rotten and I loved it.
