Glenn said the Mayor was like every Southern politician. He used Karen Black's overwrought performance of the line "I can't fly a plane" in Airport 75 as a model for the anxiety ridden mayor. He would repeat that phrase before the text his character was saying.
Randy explained that he'd offer up a voice which would be worked with to create a character. Perhaps slower, wimpier, etc. Sometimes they’d ask for the same character but with a higher voice. With the three Mr. Hydes, .first he did all the voices but that didn’t create enough distinguishing features so they used tape speed.
Kerry Katz then talked about the challenges of recreating the same voice months down the road while the animators worked on them from day to day. He saw the characters but didn’t know which voice went with each, so it wasn’t until the film that he discovered which characters he portrayed.
