Evilos at the D23 Emporium

Evilos (Christopher Charles Avalos), is best known for his work in figure customization. His portfolio includes customs from series such as Vinylmation, Funko POP!, and Disney Infinity. At the 2015 D23 Expo, Evilos’ hot item was an exclusive Pink Elephant variant of Funko’s POP! Bing Bong. Sadly, the limited edition toy sold out too quickly for us to photograph it ourselves but you can view a preview of it that the artist put together here:

He also had Disney Infinity power discs for sale. These accessories, limited to 100 pieces, will still unlock the standard Lightning McQueen in your game but the sticker bares Evilos’ likeness along with stylized character art. This piece of merchandise was actually made by The Power Disc Guy on Etsy (insert link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ThePowerDiscGuy ]

redhulk

Continuing in the Disney Infinity thread is a prototype of Evilos’ Red Hulk. This figure was part of now-canceled line of customized smart figures for the series which were planned to be sold in stores like Target. Red Hulk was displayed at the booth but, as you can see from its placard, was not for sale.

ATTEmodel

Evilos’ many Vinylmations were certainly eye-catching. With Star Wars being a hot topic this year, it was no surprise that several of the customs were inspired by the series. His Vinylmations in Carbonite were a clever nod and his 9-inch painted one with the X-Wing silhouette agains a full moon was lovely. Beyond the Vinylmation medium, Evilos also had a desk model of Star Wars’ AT-TE, complete with faux terrain.

The booth also showcased a live painting demonstration as Evilos repainted one of Mattel’s Star Wars Rebels Hero Series X-Wing toys. The 31-inch figure was given a weathered and battle-damaged look right in front of attendees’ eyes. It was a rare look into the process and one I personally found fascinating.
