David Hasselhoff and James Gunn Discuss “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and “Guardians’ Inferno”

Details about the special features and exclusives for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Blu-ray were announced last Thursday during a special event at the Disney Studios.

Previews of three of the featurettes on the Guardians Vol. 2 Blu-ray were shown. Including “In the Director’s Chair with James Gunn” which gives an in depth look at James Gunn’s creative vision and the bond he shared with the cast and crew who worked alongside him. Also on the Blu-ray is “Showtime: Meet the Cast of Vol. 2” featuring interviews from new and veteran members of the Guardians’ cast. As well as “The Reunion Tour: The Music of Vol. 2,” which showed how important the soundtrack was to the making of the film, from the script all the way to production.

Special guests David Hasselhoff, who cameos in Vol. 2, and director James Gunn, were on hand to reveal the music video they made for “Guardians’ Inferno”, the song made for the end credits of the film. The music video for “Guardians’ Inferno,” which will also be on the Blu-ray features David Hasselhoff as his cosmic counterpart Zardu Hasselfrau, alongside cameos from members of the Guardians cast as his backup band The Sneepers. Gunn and Hasselhoff then sat down for a Q&A about the process of making the music video and what fans can expect from the Blu-ray.

Afterward, a demonstration of Blu-ray UHD (Ultra High Definition) from Disney Studios Director of Emerging Technologies, Chris Witham, was shown utilizing footage from the high dynamic range version of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The enhanced version had deeper, more vibrant colors and allows the viewer to see details of the sets and special effects that were not possible with regular Blu-ray. This version of Vol. 2 was shown in Dolby Atmos Theaters capable of projecting 4K resolution, and will soon be available at home on Blu-ray UHD.
