Jurassic World Arena Tour: The Experience Is Alive!

If a visit to Universal Studios to take in Jurassic Park is still in the planning stages, you may want to consider the Jurassic World Arena Tour which has officially hit the road in Columbus, Ohio late last month. After years of planning, the show roared to life at the Schottenstein Center with high-tech special effects, dramatic lighting and of course dozens of animatronic dinos, which is a far-cry from dinosaurs on parade.

The arena tour takes the audience back to Isla Nublar as chaos erupts during the escape of the Indominus rex. Audience members are riveted to their seats as a team of scientists work to unravel a corrupt plan and save Jeanie, an all-new dinosaur introduced to the Jurassic cast.

The masters of arena shows, Feld Entertainment, let the dinos out of their cages earlier this summer when they announced a new tour that transports the excitement of dinosaurs and theme park interaction to a town near you. “Experience the excitement of being face-to-face with life-sized dinosaurs including the vicious Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Velociraptor Blue and many other favorites,” a Feld press release touted earlier this year. Adventure is guaranteed with arena-sized action complete with special effects and physical stunts that will leave audiences on their edge-of-their-seats.

Feld is collaborating with Universal Brand Development on what is being called a ground-breaking, live touring show inspired by one of the biggest blockbuster properties in movie history. Universal Brand Development is responsible for expanding the company's intellectual properties, franchises, characters and stories through innovative physical and digital products, content and consumer experiences.

Using state-of-the art projection mapping and computer technology, sound effects and music, the tour allows for the first time in an arena-style venue that fans are able to experience the wonder, thrills, awe and terror of the Jurassic World films up close and in their hometown.

The Jurassic World Live Tour takes the live show experience to an entirely new level with an original story that brings human and dinosaur characters together for a unique production. The show features a total of more than 20 characters including a herd of nine dinosaurs as well as hero and villain actors. The production was created for fans of all ages, but producers of the show advise parents to determine what age is appropriate for their children recommending that if youngsters can understand the movies they should be a fine fit for the arena spectacle.

The tour will stomp into 26 other North American cities traveling through 2020. International destinations are expected to be added at a later date.

Best known for its touring productions of Disney On Ice, Disney Live! and Marvel Universe Live!, Feld Entertainment has expanded its line-up of big-arena shows in recent years, to fill the void of the closing of its famous Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus. The Palmetto, Florida corporation also has touring productions of Sesame Street Live!, Trolls the Experience and Monster Jam.

If you’re hoping to catch the show as part of your Halloween festivities, it will be in Buffalo, NY from October 17-20, Pittsburgh, PA from October 24-27, and just after Halloween it will head to Rosemont, IL.
