Video / Photos: “The Little Mermaid LIVE” Gets Immersive Promotional Displays at The Grove

It’s almost time to strap on your flippers and return “Under the Sea,” as Ariel and her friends prepare to captivate audiences nationwide in ABC Network’s The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live! The special airs tomorrow night, but over the past few days the popular Southern California outdoor shopping mall The Grove celebrated with an immersive promotional display featuring eye-catching figures of several characters (or hints of them, anyway) from the classic Disney animated film and the new musical event.

Watch The Little Mermaid LIVE displays at The Grove in Los Angeles:

Visitors to The Grove could spot The Little Mermaid Ariel herself diving into the waters of the mall’s gorgeous dancing fountain, Sebastian the singing crab’s claw coming up through the sidewalk to grab a lamppost, and the evil sea witch Ursula’s tentacles clambering over the top of a second-floor railing with her famous song “Poor Unfortunate Souls” piping through nearby speakers. Then, shoppers could approach a friendly member of the ABC promotional team to claim a complimentary button for The Little Mermaid LIVE! For those in the Los Angeles area who haven’t yet had the chance to visit the memorable displays, they will continue to be hosted at The Grove through tomorrow, November 5.

The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live! will star Auli’i Cravalho (Moana) as Ariel, Graham Phillips (The Good Wife) as Prince Eric, Queen Latifah (Hairspray) as Ursula, reggae musician Shaggy as Sebastian, and certified Disney superfan John Stamos (Full House) as Chef Louis. The special is being produced by Done and Dusted and directed by Hamish Hamilton (The Oscars) and airs at 8:00 PM tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5, on ABC.
