Spring is a great time to plan a trip to Disneyland with lots of exciting special events happening during this time of the year. This is a popular time for many to visit the parks with warm weather and kids out of school on break.
We will cover the top 5 things you need to consider when planning a trip to Disneyland during the spring and the special offerings you can enjoy during this time!
1) Enjoy special events during spring at Disneyland. Spring is filled with several exciting special events that add even more value to your typical park day!
- You can enjoy the popular Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival which runs from February 28 through April 21, bringing the return of Soarin’ Over California, special bookable classes, entertainment, and food marketplaces across the park.
- Season of the Force at Disneyland runs from March 28 through May 11, bringing new projection effects to the “Fire of the Rising Moons” fireworks experience, the return of Hyperspace Mountain, and more.
- Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration starts May 16, bringing the return of fan-favorite entertainment like Paint the Night and Wondrous Journeys, a new World of Color show, themed food and beverages, merchandise, and much more.
- Easter at Disneyland includes fun offerings like a Disney egg hunt called the Egg-stravaganza and special themed foods for the celebration!
2) Consider a longer trip during the overlap of two spring special events. If you time your vacation accordingly, you can visit during two Disneyland special events running at the resort! The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival and Season of the Force at Disneyland Park share about half a month of overlap. There is something that everyone will enjoy at these two festivals!
In our answer to how many days is ideal for Disneyland, we always recommend visiting for multiple days to see all of the highlights and get the full Disneyland experience, but the special offerings during this stretch of time make it ideal for a 3-day trip or even a 5-day trip if you are interested in exploring everything that these special events have to offer!
3) Make sure you’re aware of early closures due to Disneyland After Dark parties. There are some fun Disneyland After Dark themes this spring including 90s Nite in March, Star Wars Nite in April and May, and Pride Nite in June. In Disney California Adventure, Grad Nite parties will be taking place throughout May and June.
If you are not attending these events, make sure you are aware of early park closures so that you are not caught off-guard! Disneyland Park will close at 8pm for Disneyland After Dark nights, and Disney California Adventure will close at 9pm for Grad Nites. Make sure you plan accordingly for these early closures especially as it pertains to nighttime entertainment! Take this into consideration when choosing your theme park reservation for the day and deciding between 1-day and Disneyland park hopper tickets.
4) Take advantage of special discounts when visiting in spring this year. If you are planning on visiting before March 20, you can enjoy a Kids’ Special Ticket offer and combine this with a Disneyland discount ticket offer for adults at kids’ prices that is currently running. SoCal residents can take advantage of special SoCal resident discount tickets during the spring.
You can also enjoy significant savings by booking special hotel offers during the spring if you’re looking to stay at one of the on-property Disneyland hotels! See how we have saved over $1000 staying on property at Disneyland by taking advantage of discounts during the spring.
5) Make sure you’re aware of Spring Break crowd patterns and have a plan for crowded days. With several kids out of school on spring break, crowds will start to increase around mid-March, and the parks will stay busy through most of April as you can see in our Disneyland crowd calendar with projected crowd levels.
Even if you are visiting during a crowded time in the spring, you can still enjoy a great visit by utilizing Lightning Lane Multi Pass and getting on popular rides with a Disneyland morning rope drop strategy or Disneyland evening strategy when lines are shorter.
