It’s More Than a Game: “Survivorman VR-The Descent”

Les Stroud is the original television survival specialist. His show, Survivorman, would place Les in a new environment each episode where he would be forced to survive for seven days, while filming his journey alone. Survivorman was about authenticity asking the audience to imagine how they would survive if they were placed in a similar situation. With success Les moved forward, and opened the door for the reality craze of survival shows that is here now. Alone on History Channel returns every year because Les charted the path through the wilderness.   Now fans will have a chance to step into the shoes of Les, with the game Survivorman VR: The Descent from Cream Studios. The game is already available for purchase on Meta Quest 2 and 3.   The moment players activate their VR headsets they will be placed into a plane crash in the Canadian arctic. The gripping reality-based simulator is inspired by many of Les’ own adventures in the wilderness. For those who think they can do better than what they see on television, now is your chance to step into the shoes of the survivalist.   I had a chance to speak with Les about his journey from first getting his show bought by a network, and how he stuck to authenticity for the game.
