According to TIME, Disney Store has announced they are creating Princess Leia toys after receiving feedback from the internet that there is a need for more Star Wars toys for girls.
A Disney spokeswoman told the magazine, “The current assortment of Star Wars products at the Disney Store launched earlier this year, and is just the beginning of what is to come. We’re excited to be rolling out new products in the coming months, including several items that will feature Princess Leia, one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars galaxy.”

It now appears Disney Store has either changed their mind, or their original response was misinformed.
