Kenny Miller Joins ABC Family As Senior Vice President, Digital Programming And Product

Kenny Miller has been named Senior Vice President, Digital Programming and Product, ABC Family. It was announced today by Tom Ascheim, President ABC Family, to whom he will report. An innovative thinker, digital strategist and technology creator, Miller joins the network with extensive experience creating well-known platforms and products that extend brands by driving deep social and mobile connections.

In his new position, Miller will grow ABC Family’s digital audience, develop ancillary revenue streams and oversee product development, design and multi-platform content strategy across all of the networks’ digital expressions. He will work hand-in-hand with the Disney/ABC Television Group Digital Media Team and Business Development to create new business ventures and partnerships in the streaming, social and mobile space. Additionally, he will collaborate with Marketing, Creative and Branding departments and will work closely with Ad Sales to create new packaging and offers across all platforms.

In making the announcement, Ascheim said, “Kenny is a digital pioneer. He is going to bring that incredible talent to us and help us find new ways for our digital and social users to interact with our network and each other in new and meaningful ways.

Most recently, Miller is an investor in and Co-Founder of Kam.io, Inc., creator of the Kamio social network and a leader in mobile creativity applications. The Kam.io team has created multiple #1 charting apps, including “Dead Yourself” for “The Walking Dead”/AMC, “Orange is the New App” for Netflix and “Go Shark Yourself” for Syfy.

From 2007-2010, Miller was Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Product for MTV Networks where he created technologies and processes to strengthen their worldwide digital businesses. He developed and implemented systems that grew global traffic by optimizing search, digital video and integrated social networking.

From 1998 – 2006, Miller led digital programming and production for Nickelodeon’s internal digital cable start-ups, Noggin and the-N, overseeing the development of those brands cross platform programming strategy and execution.

In 1992, Miller joined Viacom as Executive Producer and Technical Director at Viacom New Media, with responsibility for video game publishing as well as Viacom’s first interactive cable tests. He also led the development of digital products and brands for the Viacom stable, including MTV, Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures. While at Viacom, Miller developed the first interactive music games for MTV, as well as the first user-generated content systems for Nickelodeon.

Early in his career, Miller worked at Apple as a designer within their Human Interface Group where he researched the intersection of media and interactivity with a focus on the user’s creativity. Miller has a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Northwestern University and a Masters from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where he has also served as an adjunct professor.
