On February 16, 2015, Luigi’s Flying Tires will be closing to make way for a brand new experience in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. The attraction will feature a new ride system and vehicles when it opens in early 2016.
As the attraction opened in 2012, it only lasted less than 3 years. The attraction it is based on, the Flying Saucers, was open from 1961 to 1966, when it closed due to maintenance challenges. It is considered one of the shortest running Disneyland attractions.
