Freeform has announced that they are picking up scripted comedy Alone Together to series, it was announced today by Karey Burke, executive vice president, Programming and Development, Freeform.
“We are so proud of this series as it perfectly embodies the evolving Freeform brand and our dedication to programming for the 20-something viewer,” said Burke. “Our audience will quickly fall in love as we did with real-life best friends Esther and Benji, who navigate a world of perfect 10s as self-proclaimed 6s.”
Alone Together, is a half-hour, single-camera comedy starring Esther Povitsky (“Lady Dynamite,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) and Benji Aflalo (“Not Safe with Nikki Glaser”). Esther and Benji are platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status-obsessed culture. Despite their sometimes contentious relationship, when push comes to shove, they’ve got each other’s back…and they have nobody else to hang out with. In addition to Povitsky and Aflalo, the pilot episode features guest stars Chris D’Elia (“Undateable”), Ginger Gonzaga (“Wrecked”), Edgar Blackmon (“Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping”), Hayley Marie Norman (“Adam Ruins Everything”), Kamilla Alnes (“American Horror Story”), Jim O’Heir (“Parks and Recreation”) and Justine Lupe (“Younger”).
