Family Looking for Couple Who Gave Their Daughter a Special Mickey Mouse Ring

On a recent trip to Walt Disney World, a young Massachusetts girl received a sweet gift from a grieving family in memory of their little girl. Now her parents are hoping to connect with the other family to say thank you and share their condolences according to Yahoo Lifestyle.

What’s happening:

  • The Geiselman family of Massachusetts was visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios this past fall when they were approached by a couple asking if their daughter, Belle liked gold. Surprised by the inquiry, Kyle Geiselman said yes and then agreed again when the woman asked if they could give something to his daughter.
  • The mystery couple told Geiselman that they were commemorating the one-year anniversary of their own daughter’s Make-A-Wish trip and during last year’s visit they purchased two rings, one for their child and one to give away to someone who “was adorable like their little girl.”
  • Geiselman’s wife, Kara, posted their story on Facebook, noting that they are hoping to contact the other couple.
  • She writes that when they explained to her husband about their daughter, he was at a loss for words, “He wanted to tell them so much, that he was sorry for their insurmountable loss and about our own little warrior but in the moment only ‘thank you’ came out.”

A special recipient:

  • While this gesture of kindness is in itself sweet, what makes it even more incredible is that these parents singled out Belle, who had her own struggles early in her life.
  • There’s no way the couple could have known about Belle’s struggle and victory, and the Geiselmans were deeply touched that their daughter was chosen to receive the special gift
  • The Geiselmans told Yahoo Lifestyle that their twin daughters Belle and Milly were born at 30 weeks and Kyle says, doctors, "were doing all they could do and they weren’t sure that Belle was gonna make it through the night.”
  • Both girls had to spend months in the hospital, and Belle ended up needing feeding tubes for the first year and a half. Another coincidence: it was during a trip to Walt Disney World that Belle ate by mouth for the first time, meaning the “Most Magical Place on Earth” is where the Geiselmans made some truly special memories.

What they’re saying:

  • Kara Geiselman: “They didn’t know that we were back at the place where our daughter surprised us all and started eating by mouth for the first time at 18 months old, or that this trip was the first time she traveled to Disney without needing a feeding tube for nourishment or an oxygen mask on the flight.”
  • Kyle Geiselman: “Honestly, as much as we would like to speak with the couple, and kind of share a little more info about our daughter, our hope is that our message reaches them, and if they didn’t want to come forward, that’s fine. This could have just been something they wanted to do and that’s the end of it. The message may not reach them. But if it does and they don’t want to contact us, that’d be fine. But it would be nice for us to know the message has reached them.”
  • Kara Geiselman: “I’d love if they would contact us. I’d love to know their daughter’s name and call it that girl’s name ring. And have it it be in her honor.”
