Walt Disney World’s Summer Nightastic begins June 6th as more than half a million lights sparkle to “electro synthe-magnetic musical sounds”, a tale of adventure and mystery told through pyrotechnics, the sounds of popular bands through the years, new sights and thrills at the Hollywood Tower Hotel and a dance party featuring glow and rock n’ roll.

Adding a touch of nostalgia to Summer Nightastic is the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade to the Magic Kingdom for the first time since 2001. The parade - every last bit including costumes - was trucked from California where it played at Disney's California Adventure. It will perform identically to the DCA version  which means floats like Tinker Bell and Pinocchio will be able to be seen in Florida for the first time. And while the lead drum float will say "Disney's Electrical Parade" we were assured the opening electronic spiel will say "Main Street Electrical Parade" and will even feature the return of its original voice, the late Jack Wagner.

With a name that states the obvious “Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Spectacular” will be a spectacular display of fireworks high above the Magic Kingdom. The show celebrates the Magic Kingdom’s nighttime transformation to a place of greater mystery and adventure. The kids are up past their bedtime and there’s a special wonder in the air, explained Chris Oyen, show director for the “SummerNightastic! Fireworks Spectacular.” The Magic Kingdom’s nighttime finale will include some elements of the “Magic, Music, Mayhem” presentation that was part of the Pirate and Princess parties. The show features Disney’s fairies and pirates including score from “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” Among the show’s highlights will be the use of perimeter launches creating the sensation that guests are surrounded -- traditionally these launches are utilized in displays for the Magic Kingdom’s holiday parties – and visual effects that will make it seem as though the castle is under siege.

Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Mulch, Sweat and Shears will get the party started and keep the music pumping five nights a week at the Rock N Glow Party. Hosted at the Sorcerer’s Hat icon guests can expect a high energy dance party beginning three hours before park close complete with DJ, pyrotechnic effects, visits from Disney characters and glow.

SummerNightastic! Also brings change to the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Jason Roberts of Walt Disney Imagineering was careful not to let any surprises slip during his brief presentation. He assured us the familiar immersive story of the Tower of Terror will remain but fans will immediately note that something is new as they travel Sunset Blvd. New elements will be presented in the queue and a team of lighting, sound and ride programmers have worked to create a new experience once aboard the elevator car.

The Epcot Sounds Like Summer Concert series will feature tribute bands celebrating the music of The Rolling Stones, U2 and the Eagles. The performers have been carefully selected for the concert series having been approved by the band they honor, these tribute bands "faithfully recreate the style and orchestration of the band" said Alan Bruun. "You will not believe your ears”

Summer Nightastic will run at Walt Disney World June 6 through August 14, 2010.
