The Fabulous Disney Babe

Truthfully, New Tomorrowland makes me sad when I go there.  It used to be my favorite land when it was "a world on the move".  It was bright, with the colors flying against the pristine white background.  Even now, I "forget" and when I get to Disneyland first thing in the morning, it's all I can do to not run to Tomorrowland and get on the Peoplemover.  I found a photo of my late brother today that is my favorite.  It's from the Rocket Jet in front of his, from below.  He's looking down from his Rocket Jet and laughing as he flies through the air.  I'll scan it in later if anyone wants to see it.

The Matterhorn appears to be coming along nicely.  Apparently, Harold took a vacation to Walt Disney World and loved Disney's Animal Kingdom so much that he's considering moving a cousin or two of his into the new coaster being planned for the Asia "land".  Why not Dragon's Tower as originally planned?  Too close to Dueling Dragons.  Way, way too close.  Like the designer close.

What else is going on?  Spain has been announced for Epcot's World Showcase.  I remember fondly when Equatorial Africa, Israel, and Denmark were announced.  I hope it happens.  World Showcase could really use a breath of fresh air.  Over in Future World, Project Genesis promises us a complete overhaul of Spaceship Earth, ride system and all.  You know, Genesis Team, I wouldn't mind a lap bar or whatever if you could just turn off that annoying announcement that my time machine vehicle is about to turn.  The moment it turns is a wonderful surprise for those who don't know about it.  Also, please be respectful for the beauty of that attraction and take off the Mickey hand.  Thank you.  It makes Spaceship Earth look weird in pictures.

Speaking of pictures, the Image Capture project for the Magic Kingdom is getting ready for testing.  The equipment for the Haunted Mansion has all ready been installed, as well as some other areas of the park.  Guests will not know when they are being photographed, so keep your hands to yourself in there from now on!   If you're expecting a photo retail area at the Mansion exit - expect something else.  How and when they get the photos is the innovative part.  It's not operating yet, but will be soon.

I'll be at the Haunted Mansion event next Thursday, so will give you a full report of the event after I go.  If you want great info on the merchandise - read Kim's column.  I'm going for the good company and fun time.
