Across from the Golden Vine Winery the Festival Marketplaces offer a mix of sample sized food, along with suggested wine pairings. Three windows are open at the Lucky Fortune Cookery, and one window is open at the Farmer’s Market. The windows at the Cookery offer Lobster Quesadilla, California Chicken Skewer, and Seasonal Mixed Berries in Chardonnay Sabayon sauce at the first window; Baja Beef Skewer, Bruschetta, and Fresh Tomato Salad at the second window; and Beer Battered Halibut, Knockwurst, and Fresh Peach Cobbler at window number three. (A hint: if you ask nicely, they will mix and match from other windows!) The Farmer’s Market offers Grilled Artichokes, White Cheddar Soup in a Boudin sourdough mini-boule, and Central Valley Strawberries with Crème Fraiche.

Cast member Christopher proudly displays the Marketplace menu.
Christopher, the cast member in charge of the Marketplaces, enthused over the cast participation. As manager of the Pacific Wharf area, he called upon cast members throughout the Resort to participate. The response, he said, netted cast members with a passion for creating memorable guest experiences. Chef Chris Magetti and Chef Ricky Hidalgo created the Marketplace menus. The menus at Epcot, Christopher noted, were based on international themes. Since the west coast Food and Wine Festival was located in Disney’s California Adventure, the emphasis was naturally oriented to the regional specialties of the Golden State. Dishes were selected not only to stand on their own in sample sized portions, but for wine pairings as well. The most popular dish is the Lobster Quesadilla, with skewers coming in close behind.

Disney’s California Food and Wine Weekends continue through May 21. A complete schedule of events may be found on line at this link.
