Disney's Rock Around the Mouse

Running through August 31 2005 Tokyo Disneyland is presenting Disney’s Rock Around the Mouse. This musical extravaganza is the park’s celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Disneyland. The theme is 1950s California and the setting is a drive-in diner that is popular with Mickey and his pals who are all students at Disney High.

However their singing and dancing to the hottest tunes from the era is disturbed by the arrival of a triumvirate of heavies namely Gaston, Cruella de Vil and the Big Bad Wolf. Ultimately the villains challenge Mickey and his gang to a race around the hub. The winners would be able to take over the Drive-in and the losers would be banished forever.

Naturally Mickey wins the race despite some underhanded techniques from Gaston and Cruella. The show is vastly entertaining and a significant improvement over recent castle stage shows at Tokyo Disneyland.

In addition the entire hub is decorated for the season with Mickey and Minnie jiving in front of an illuminated jukebox the centrepiece.
