Disney's Pop Century Resort Opens Dec. 14 With 2,880 Rooms of Pop Culture Memories
Walt Disney World Resort opens the doors Sunday to its newest value hotel as Disney's Pop Century Resort takes its first guests on a trip down memory lane. Eager guests are expected in the early morning hours of Dec. 14 to be among the first to check into the 2,880-room resort.
With rooms starting at $77 a night (based on season), Disney's Pop Century Resort expands by 50 percent the number of Disney owned-and-operated value-category rooms across the 47-square-mile Vacation Kingdom to more than 8,500.
"Disney's Pop Century Resort showcases the impact that popular culture has had on our society, so it's fitting that we're opening the 1950s through the 1990s areas of this hotel," said Al Weiss, president of Walt Disney World Resort. "Those were the years when the term 'pop culture' really grew to become a part of the American lexicon.

"Because of the popularity of our other value-category resorts -- Disney's All-Star Resorts -- and the exciting atmosphere created by the pop culture icons and incredible theming, this is a great addition to our resort inventory."
Larger-than-life icons of 20th century popular culture can be found all over the sprawling resort property -- four-story Rubik's Cubes and Duncan Yo-Yos, 65-foot-tall bowling pins and 55-foot cellular phones, to name a few. Individual lodge buildings pay tribute to popular culture from each decade.

Three feature pools sit within a "pop," skip and jump from each other, offering a way to unwind surrounded by soothing memories from yesteryear.
With the addition of Disney's Pop Century Resort, Walt Disney World features nearly 25,000 Disney owned-and-operated guestrooms across the 47-square-mile vacation kingdom.
