Once the safety prayer finished and as the hotel executives looked on, Mickey wearing a site foreman’s costume gave the signal for construction to begin and the diggers began to move in synchrony as they penetrated the tarmac. Tomoko Nishikawa, who was the ambassador of Tokyo Disney Resort in 2005 and currently is employed by the Maihama Resort Hotels Co., Ltd. (the operator of the existing two Disney-branded hotels), acted as a program director of the ceremony.

President of OLC Yoshiro Fukushima announced a new plan as the new Tokyo Disneyland Hotel will open in 2008 when the neighboring park will celebrate its 25th anniversary. The OLC is expecting hotel occupancy rates to be above 90% during that year.
