SOAR Wins Again

The Save Our Anaheim Resort coalition scored another victory when the Anaheim City Council put their initiative on the June 3, 2008 ballot.  This initiative requires any residential development within the Anaheim Resort, with the exception of residences inside hotels and mobile homes, must be approved by the voters of Anaheim.  This victory follows a referendum which will also be on the ballot that will overturn the council's decision to allow SunCal to build homes in the resort area.  The city council had no choice as the initiative qualified for the ballot, however I am glad they didn't waste time, like they did on the referendum.  We are going to see a lot of debate and discussion on this issue in the next nine months, but at least now the citizens of Anaheim will be able to choose.

Quick Takes:

Studio Entertainment: Meet the Robinsons is now available on DVD.  Only time will tell how this film is viewed by Disney history, but I contend this film might end up being "The Great Mouse Detective" of this era.  A decent film that was the precursor to a new golden age of Disney animation.  Even with the creative changes, I hear good things about "Bolt" which will be released next fall, and we have all heard tales of the revitilization of the Disney Animation Studios, so Meet the Robinsons might be the prelude to something real special.

Media Networks:  The word on the street is that ABC has order a full season of "Pushing Daisies".  You might remember I picked that show to be the biggest show of ABC's fall schedule.  I might be right for once.  Darn you "Traveler"

Consumer Products: I am starting to hear that Disney might  be looking at Kingdom Hearts as a franchise beyond the three video games that have been released so far.  I don't know if anything will come of this, but I'll keep an eye out.
