For the 4th year Downtown Disney celebrated Fathers Day with the Car Masters Weekend located on the Westside of DTD, which just so happen to coincide with the Disney Parks Blog special meet-up for Planes: Fire & Rescue.

First the day started with a early morning special viewing of Planes: Fire & Rescue put on by the great folks at Disney Parks Blog and DisneyToon Studios. While I won’t spoil anything, this film finds Dusty Crophopper having to head to Piston Peak National Park to become a Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) trained to fight fires in order to help save Propwash Junction from being shut down. Along the way we are introduced to a LARGE cast including more Cars, in fact after a while I wasn’t sure who was who. I won’t go into too much detail about the film but if you liked the first one you will love this one! If you didn’t like the first one give this one a try as it really does have a lot of heart and shows that the writers Bobs Gannaway and Jeffery M. Howard really cared about the film! Having not seen the first one, I will say Planes: Fire & Rescue had some fun moments and A LOT of fart jokes, but over all was just kind of there if you have kids this is going to be the movie of the summer for them. The people who had seen the first one all seemed to be in the “it’s better than the first one” opinion.

After the screening we were given the opportunity to head out and enjoy the Car Masters Weekend. This event started in 2011, to mostly help publicize Cars 2, has grown from a hand full of things to do and the Cars characters out for photo spots to over 100 classic and custom cars on display, games, and of course merchandise. Along with seeing all the amazing cars on display a DJ was out playing some classic tunes, the folks from the Richard Petty Driving Experience showing off some of their cars and talking about the new Junior Ride Along Program.

And never to miss a chance for Synergy there was a Disney Infinity booth giving everyone a chance to play DI 2.0.

Having been at the first Car Masters Weekend in 2011 I can say this event has taken on a life of it’s own! One of the highlights was seeing some of the Chip Fooes custom cars, he was on had in D-Street doing some signing with one of the longest lines I have seen in a long time.

Overall it was a great day and judging on how crowded the event was I would bet my pink slip that it will be back next year!
