Meet the Disney Pup Who Helps Protect Sea Turtles

Ever since the days of Walt Disney himself, the company he founded has taken an interest in nature and various conservation efforts to protect our planet. Following in that tradition, Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival recently hosted an event featuring Captain Ron — an adorable beagle whose unique training enables him to help save sea turtles. Captain Ron and his human Pepe Peruyero work at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort in Vero Beach, Florida where the pup uses his nose to sniff out where sea turtle eggs are buried. By detecting their location, Peruyero and others on the conservation team can ensure the eggs stay protected from predators as well as guests that might accidentally disturb them.
