The Disneyland Resort continued its popular Disneyland After Dark special events with Star Wars Nite on May 3rd, 2018. Because the event continued until after midnight, guests were able to celebrate May the 4th Be With You, also known as unofficial Star Wars Day.
Entertainment offerings included a one-time only fireworks display at Sleeping Beauty Castle at 9:45, as well as a Fleet of Fandom march by fan groups in custom-made costumes at midnight. Other shows were repeated throughout the evening. March of the First Order Featuring Captain Phasma was staged three times in Tomorrowland. Lightsaber Masters taught aspiring Jedi in front of it’s a small world. A panel of WDI designers discussed Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the Fantasyland Theatre. There were also two continuous activities: the Galactic Dance Party featuring DJ Elliot at the Tomorrowland Terrace and the Droidbuilder Robotic Showcase in front of the Firehouse on Main Street.
Character greetings at photo locations proved very popular. There were eleven themed photo opportunities located throughout the park, with a rotating roster of characters. Some guests waited hours in line for popular favorites.
May the Fourth merchandise also had its fans. The lines for Star Traders and the Emporium were hours long, and all event souvenirs sold out before the night was over. Special dining offerings were also available at selected food locations. Among them were the Scum and Villainy Dog at Coke Corner, Dagobah Ramed at Pizza Planet, and This Is the Burger You’re Looking For at the Galactic Grill. Guests with a sweet tooth could choose among a variety of treats, including the Galactic Princess Sundae, Chewbacca Cheesecake, and Darth by Chocolate.
Tickets for the second event on May 9th are still available.
