Variety is reporting that Mark Rylance has been cast to play the Mad Hatter’s father in Through the Looking Glass, Disney’s sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 Alice in Wonderland. James Bobin (The Muppets Most Wanted) is directing the sequel which is scheduled to be released May 27, 2016.
Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter), Helena Bonham Carter (Red Queen) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice) are set to reprise their roles. The original film made over $330 million domestically.
