Disney To Test Selling MagicBands Without Tickets

Currently for retail MagicBand purchases, guests must present valid theme park admission, a Memory Maker card or another MagicBand to link to at the time of sale. A new option is being piloted where guests will be able to purchase MagicBands and link them at a future date, providing an opportunity for Guests to buy MagicBands as gifts. The pilot begins August 19 at theme parks, Downtown Disney, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort.

A few notes:

  • A purchase limit of five per style is in place for MagicBands. Purchase limits differ for limited edition and limited release items (i.e., Frozen featuring Olaf, Star Wars-themed MagicBands, etc.).
  • Discounts on retail MagicBands and accessories are available for Annual Passholders, DVC members, Golden Oak Residents and Cast Members.
  • The pilot excludes graphic MagicBands, such as the Frozen bands being sold at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as they must be linked to RF-media at time of purchase.

All other MagicBand sales locations will continue to sell MagicBands if a guest has a valid RF-enabled media to link at time of sale.
