Disney’s efforts to support and strengthen children and families were honored recently as Walt Disney World Resort received the 2015 Inspiration Award from Community Based Care (CBC) of Central Florida. The award, presented by the leading local organization for community-based child welfare services at its annual fundraising gala earlier this month, recognizes an individual or company that has demonstrated a commitment to foster children and families.
Walt Disney World Resort works closely with CBC on initiatives that highlight the need for Central Floridians to become foster and adoptive parents, including a video project with the national FosterMore organization featuring Disney Cast Members who recently adopted a child.
“Here at Walt Disney World, we understand that there’s nothing more important to a child than a safe and loving home. Healthy children are engaged in meaningful interactions with family members or caregivers, something that is critical in their development,” said Nancy Gidusko, director of Walt Disney World Corporate Citizenship. “To receive this recognition from the CBC, an organization dedicated to the well-being of children, is indeed an honor.”
Since 2012, Walt Disney World Resort has provided CBC with more than $500,000 in cash and in-kind contributions. Items donated include Disney bears, artwork, costumes, jewelry and an array of assorted accessories.
