Laura Marano to Host New Weekly Show on Radio Disney

“For The Record With Laura Marano,” a weekly one-hour show chronicling Laura Marano’s journey as she launches her music career, will premiere TUESDAY, JANUARY 12 at 2:00 p.m. PT/ 5 p.m. ET on Radio Disney and the Radio Disney app. Marano, best known for starring as singer and songwriter Ally Dawson in the hit Disney Channel comedy series “Austin & Ally,” will take listeners through her experience recording her first solo pop album with Big Machine Records, and the dedication it takes to pursue one’s dreams. The show will also include interviews with some of music’s biggest stars.

“We’ve seen Laura build both a huge fan following worldwide and a path to her goals and now she’s well on her way to realizing her musical dreams. She has the critical elements that have fueled the success of all great careers — talent, commitment and positivity — and through her new show, Radio Disney listeners will learn about her vision and experience, said Phil Guerini, VP, Music Strategy Disney Channels Worldwide and General Manager, Radio Disney Networks.

Marano recorded four solo songs and one duet with her fellow “Austin & Ally” star Ross Lynch for the 2013 soundtrack “Austin & Ally: Turn It Up.” Marano and Lynch also recorded the duet “I Love Christmas” for Disney Channel’s holiday album, “Holidays Unwrapped.” In February 2014, Marano recorded “The Me That You Don’t See” for the album “Disney Channel Play It Loud.”

Marano’s acting career began at age five, performing in numerous plays at the Agoura Children’s Theatre. She guest-starred on many television series including “Heroes,” “Children’s Hospital,” “Flash Forward,” “Little Monk,” “Medical Investigation,” “Huff” and “Joan of Arcadia.” Additionally, she had recurring roles on “Without a Trace” and “The Sarah Silverman Program,” and was a series regular on “Back to You” and the game show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” On the big screen, Marano voiced characters in the animated features “Finding Nemo” and “Ice Age: The Meltdown.” She also appeared in the George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh produced film “The Jacket,” as well as Judd Apatow’s “Superbad.” Aside from music and acting, Marano has also curated a collection of prom dresses for fashion designer Sherri Hill.
