Paul Lee Resigns at ABC Following Power Struggle

The New York Times is reporting that the head of ABC Entertainment has resigned following a power struggle with Disney/ABC Media Networks Co-Chair Ben Sherwood.

Paul Lee had been in his position since July 2010 where he had oversight of all creative and business operations for ABC Studios as well as all development, programming, marketing and scheduling operations for ABC Entertainment. He also oversaw  entertainment programming for syndication and daytime.

Prior to becoming president of ABC Entertainment Group, Mr. Lee led ABC Family from 2004-2010 where he developed the network’s strategy of targeting millennials.

Sherwood, who had been leading ABC News, was promoted to replace the long-serving Anne Sweeney.

ABC has confirmed the news and reports that Channing Dungey is the new president of ABC Entertainment. Ms. Dungey most recently served as executive vice president, Drama Development, Movies & Miniseries, ABC Entertainment Group, overseeing the development and production of all drama pilots, movies & miniseries and the launch of new series for ABC Entertainment.
