Disney competitor Six Flags has just announced a partnership with Samsung. Here’s their release:
Virtual reality is coming! Six Flags will debut ground-breaking experiences at nine parks in 2016 — North America’s first Virtual Reality (VR) Roller Coasters, using Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus.
We’re taking our signature brand of thrills to the next level and beyond in fully immersive, virtual riding experiences. Some of our most popular coasters will be equipped to allow you to wear a Samsung Gear VR headset and feel the heart-pumping adrenaline of steep drops, inverted loops and powerful twists and turns as gyros, accelerometers and proximity sensors synchronize all of the action in an incredibly realistic 360-degree virtual reality world.
On the six New Revolution Virtual Reality Coasters, you will be transported to a futuristic battle to save planet earth from an alien invasion. Co-pilot your own fighter jet as you strap in for air-to-air combat. As your virtual plane ascends out of a secret bunker, test fire your weapon using the world’s first-ever interactive gameplay technology on a roller coaster. Then race through the city where you’ll battle drones to reach and destroy a mother ship.
On Six Flags’ three new SUPERMAN Virtual Reality Coasters, once you take your seat and fasten the headset, you’ll be fully immersed in a 360-degree comic-book world. Soar alongside SUPERMAN as he battles evil Lexbots through hairpin twists and turns, loops, dips and dives.
Six Flags and Samsung will launch the new VR Roller Coasters beginning this month and into the summer.
