Deadline is reporting that the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid is officially a go. More importantly, they broke news that Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda will be teaming up with Alan Menken to pen the music for the film. This will surely help this Little Mermaid project stand apart from the one currently in the works at Universal.
This will mark at least the third Disney project for Miranda who also worked on music for the upcoming Moana and will star in Mary Poppins Returns. Meanwhile, Menken has far too many Disney credits to name.
No word yet on possible casting or a release date for this version of The Little Mermaid.
