Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch is reporting that ESPN is considering splitting up popular ESPN Radio team of Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic. The proposed plan is moving Mike Greenberg to ESPN to host a morning show from 6 to 10 am that would combine elements of SportsCenter and a traditional morning show.
It is then postulated that Mike Golic would continue on ESPN Radio, possible with his son Mike Golic Jr.
Mike & Mike has aired on ESPN Radio since 1998. It has since been simulcast on ESPNEWS before moving to ESPN2. In 2015 ESPN announced that the show would be moving to New York to better interact with ABC’s Good Morning America, but that plan was terminated after a few months.
ESPN declined to comment on the story.
