Several sources are reporting that Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes) is in talks to direct a live-action version of Aladdin for Disney.
Previously it was reported that Disney was developing a live-action prequel of Aladdin centered around the Genies however that project appears to have transitioned into the more familiar tale while being told in a non-linear style. It is expected that the film will keep some of the musical elements of the 1992 animated classic, however the take on the Genie has yet to be determined.
The script is being written by John August who performed the same role for the stop-motion version of Frankenweenie.
